找到推算雪豹种群密度新方法

为了更好地了解雪豹在中国分布和生存的基本信息，北京林业大学与英国牛津大学合作，找到一种更加严谨的推算雪豹种群密度的方法——照片重复取样法。相关成果日前发表于《公共科学图书馆·综合》。

2013年冬季，科研团队在祁连山自然保护区内布设了60台红外相机。这些相机在海拔2100~4100米的深山中连续拍摄了3个多月，获得了大量雪豹野外活动影像。

通过辨别雪豹身上的不同花纹，研究人员确定了研究区域有20只雪豹。根据数学模型推算，估测在这个区域内每100平方公里生活有3只以上雪豹。

“对于这种魅力非凡的‘大猫’，精确的种群密度信息是很难得到的。我们需要更多的研究，包括通过严谨的野外调查和先进的数理模型来更好地了解雪豹的种群分布和密度。”牛津大学动物系研究员菲利普·赖尔登说。（来源：中国科学报 冯丽妃 陈鹏举）
